Preschool today

Today it was my turn to teach and we had some fun I think. We talked about St. Patrick's day and all about Ireland and the traditions that go with this day. The kids liked the treats and little things I got for them. They got a straw with a clover shape and green cup cakes, lots of activities that had to do with the theme while learning abut shapes and patterns. So here is a picture of them having their snack.

Becoming an American Citizen

So after so many years I am finally doing it. I know I should have done it like 7 years ago but I just could not bring myself to doing it. Here is why. I feel like I have betrayed who I am, first by leaving my country, family and friends, I came to this country for one reason and that was to follow my happiness, to marry the man that I love and to start a new life. I didn't think twice when I did it, don't get me wrong, I don't regret that. But I didn't really think about what I had to do to stay in this country, I feel like I have to give up a big part of myself, by becoming a citizen I would be giving up in paper what I am, I know that it wont change the way people look at me in this world and that is why it bothers me that I have to do it. If only what would change so many things. Dan still doesn't get and I try to explain it to so many people. I like this country, this is where my family is, where I want my kids to grow up and if I want to be with them I have to do it. So this week I am sending my paperwork and then I'll just have to wait, pass the test and get over with. In my heart I will always be "Guatemalteca" and very proud of it. Of course my accent proves it. I will try to pass on all my traditions to my kids and their kids. I wont forget who I am.

Snow snow go away

Yes I am sick of the snow. I want to be able to take the kids to the park without freezing ourselves. Last week I was brave enough to take them for a little while, I even took Shayna and Victor out out of school early so they could enjoy the weather, but it only lasted about 3 minutes. We had to come back home because it got really windy and cold. Aaron had red cheeks and he looked so cute. They were all
full of sand and had to get in the bath tub right away. I will probably hate the heat in the summer time, but at least the guys can go outside and play.
Saturday morning we took the kids to a primary activity and they had lots of fun. I took a couple of pictures, but not very many. Poor Victor he is barely in any of them. Tristan had fun being a carpenter and Shayna and Victor tried to get Goliath. Dan and I went shopping at Walmart with Aaron and it was kind of fun, I let him buy a new computer game ( Age of Empire), I KNOW I WILL REGRET IT LATER. I found a good deal on PJs for Tristan and Aaron and got them a set each. Aaron was posing for a picture last night and it was so funny I had to post it. Victor has been enjoying playing Lego Star Wars on the XBox and he is getting very good at it. He finished all the levels already and can sit there for a long time just playing, also he loves to tell us all about it. His birthday party is going to be about Star Wars and we are putting together some ideas for it.
